Witness the moments of children's growth
The first time I applied to be a chaperone was in 2012. I was introduced to this opportunity by a friend. To be honest, I didn't know much about the APCC project itself, but I applied because I thought it would be fun to take children overseas. The first time I led the group was in Ipoh, Malaysia as a member, and the following year I went to Atlanta, USA as a group leader for the second time. We received a warm welcome in both countries, and both the children and their leaders had a truly wonderful experience.
My experience as a leader has completely changed the way I thought when I first applied for the program. I was also impressed with how much I was able to learn from the children and how much I was able to grow as a person by being a leader. I am grateful to have been able to witness the growth of so many children. Many children are taking on challenges through this program.
I encourage adults as well to take on this challenge as a gift to themselves.
