As you all know, on Saturday, January 15, 2022, a large-scale eruption of an underwater volcano occurred in Tonga. I am sure that all of you are saddened by the daily reports of this disaster. Immediately after the eruption occurred, the secretariat contacted local contacts and related parties, but we have been unable to hear from them, perhaps because the means of communication have been cut off due to the serious damage. We have received concerns from many people, including people who have experience with Challenge Trips, Children's Ambassador host families, and volunteers. Therefore, we would like to inform you that we have decided to conduct a fundraising campaign in order to help the people of Tonga, who have a deep connection with APCC. On Saturday, January 15, 2022, a large-scale submarine volcanic eruption occurred near Tonga in the South Pacific Ocean, causing serious damage to Tonga. The Asia Pacific Children's Conference in Fukuoka (hereinafter referred to as APCC) sincerely prays for the safety of APCC personnel (past participants, host families of dispatch programs, etc.) living in the disaster-stricken areas, and continues to collect information and pray for the safety of the many people affected by the disaster.
