Supporting children's international exchange
as a facilitator
Expand your new possibilities

What is Bridge Virtual Summer Camp?

Every year, during the ``BRIDGE KIDS PROGRAMS'' hosted by the Asia Pacific Children's Conference in Fukuoka (APCC), more than 200 11-year-old child ambassadors and chaperones invited from all over the world turn the entire city of Fukuoka into a camping site during the summer. We are holding a program called ``BRIDGE Summer Camp'' that offers dynamic cross-cultural exchange.
In 2022, we will hold ``BRIDGE Virtual Summer Camp'' online to deepen your understanding of diverse foreign cultures. This program is a total of 5 programs that can be participated mainly during the summer vacation period. The program is structured around the theme of ``Let's make friends around the world.'' A total of 200 children from all over the world and FUKUOKA KIDS (4th to 6th grade elementary school students from Fukuoka selected through open recruitment) will be visiting their countries and countries. The purpose is to overcome language barriers and foster friendships.

Program overview

[Planned participants]
■ Children Ambassadors: Children around the age of 11 who are scheduled to participate from APCC's 47 overseas offices (36 countries/regions).
■ FUKUOKA KIDS: Open recruitment for 4th to 6th grade elementary school students living in Fukuoka Prefecture.

[Program features]
■ Exchange through activities such as group work and cultural introductions based on the theme of "Let's make friends around the world"
■ Group work was carried out by approximately 8 children from Japan and overseas, and facilitator volunteers who supported the children's interactions.
■ Foster friendships through a total of 5 programs, rather than just one-time interactions
■ Utilizing the APCC network around the world, children from diverse countries and regions participate.
■ Through this program, children will understand each other and develop friendships, giving them an opportunity to become ``global citizens with an OMOIYARI heart.''

The charm of volunteer facilitators

・You can grow yourself
Through training, you will learn the skills and knowledge necessary for basic facilitation, and as a facilitator of BRIDGE Virtual Summer Camp, you will support children's interactions during the actual program period. During online interactions, we will consider ways to create an atmosphere that makes it easy for each child to participate and ways to draw out ideas from the children. By supporting children, you can also lead to your own growth.

・You can experience the world through group work with people from countries and regions that you would not be able to interact with in your daily life.
Children's ambassadors are expected to participate from 36 countries and regions where APCC has overseas contact points. During the program, facilitators themselves will be able to experience diverse values and cultures while helping children understand each other and develop friendships, allowing them to enjoy international exchange while staying in Fukuoka.

・You can watch over children as they open the door to the world
For some of the participating children, this is the first time they have communicated with people outside their own country or region. For such children, this program may be an opportunity to encounter a different culture and open a door to the world. You can closely watch the growth and awareness of such children.
